Ruben Leal moved is a native of Hermosillo, the capital city of Sonora, Mexico, but he has been living in the States for more than a decade. He missed Sonoran style tortillas, so he began making his own and founded Caramelo Tortillas. Caramelo Tortillas are made by hand in Lawrence, Kansas with local pork fat or duck fat from Local Pig in Kansas City. They are baked in a traditional tortilla oven that was shipped to Kansas from Sonora, Mexico.
