A family owned operation in Miami, Oklahoma, J-M Farms provides fresh mushrooms to the Southwestern United States. Begun in the fall of 1979, Virgil Jurgensmeyer, Joe Jurgensmeyer and Darrell McLain founded J-M Farms, Inc. and the first batch of mushrooms were picked on March 13, 1980. Since then, the farm has expanded significantly, the changes in technology have allowed the farm to grow over 600% from its original size and growing capacity. The original farm size was built to produce 2,000,000 pounds of mushrooms per year, but today the farm produces over 28,000,000 pounds. J-M's products are delivered to Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri and Iowa. J-M Farms strives to provide the safest, best quality and most competitively priced produce. The family owned and operated farm grows white button, portabellas, and crimini mushroom and offers other varieties such as shiitake, oyster, and trumpets.

The farm produces around 500,000 pounds per week by growing the mushrooms in large wooden trays filled with a specialized compost blend that is sterilized prior to being sown with mushroom spores.
