Founder of The Ugly Company, Ben Moore, grew up on his family's farm and couldn't wait to have a farm of his own one day. After his return back home from serving in the Army, he quickly realized that family farms were a dying breed. He then took to truck driving as a living and would often haul dirt & dozers, but he mostly found himself hauling discarded fruits from packing houses to be dumped in open fields. He became determined to find a way to prevent so much waste from fresh, delicious fruit. This idea was also inspired by his grandma, who used to take the fruit left behind in the field, slice it, and take it up to her roof for it to dry.
